Despite the icky weather this past weekend, the Lowcountry Farm Tours happened Saturday and from what I could tell over at Lowland Farms, people were having a great time!
I was volunteering the event and arrived at Lowland Farms early in the morning. Kenneth, aka “Skinny”, and Jay are the stewards of this beautiful land. Both greeted me with warm welcomes and seemed excited to be showing folks around their farm. I was just excited that there were baby goats!

This past Saturday marked the 2014 season kickoff of the
Charleston Farmer’s Market at Marion Square. (Yep, the above pic of me, my dad,

I have long envisioned myself tending a garden and growing my own food. Yet, for some reason, had not been proactive in my visions. Finally the time has come!

Feeling the Spring Fever? Over at LLF we couldn’t be more excited about the bountiful beauty (not to mention harvest!) of Spring. We celebrate Eat Local Month every April and it is our hopes that in doing so we help cultivate a community passionate about our local foods. And after my interview with Chef Chris Stewart of The Glass Onion, I am happy to report that local foods are in no short supply!

Surely if you are local to the area you’ve noticed the Limehouse Produce trucks driving around town, or are familiar with the company’s eye-popping lime green logo. These guys are everywhere, making things happen on the food front! Since its conception over seven decades ago, Limehouse Produce has established themselves as an emblem of food production and distribution in the Lowcountry.
