Mission:

Lowcountry Local First advocates the benefits of a local living economy by strengthening community support for independent locally owned businesses and farmers.

December 1-7, 2008 is a national awareness campaign that emphasizes the importance of our local independent businesses on our local economy! Join LLF and Business Alliances across the country as we bring awareness to the importance of supporting these businesses and our farmers. Did you know that by pledging to spend $100 of your shopping dollars this holiday season at locally-owned independent stores, you will have a potential $23 million dollar impact on our community, an estimated $7.1 million dollars more than if it was spent at a non-local big box retailer!

By taking the Buy Local Pledge you will be entered to win a prize package form independent locally owned merchants and restaurants, plus tickets to the City Paper's Best of Charleston party!!! The winner will be announced at the Buy Local Be Local Bash.

This fall we will be launching the first directory of local independent businesses in the greater Charleston area! This will be a great tool for all business owners, residents and tourist who want to support our local businesses by sourcing as many goods and services locally as we possibly can.
