Eat Local Month 2013
Eat Local Month is a celebration of the bounty of local food available in the Lowcountry and will take place throughout the month of April 2013. Eat Local Month will provide fun and educational opportunities for our community to actively engage in eating what is ripe, delicious and in season. The community will be able to directly connect with the farmers, restaurants, businesses and organizations that make the Lowcountry unique. So get ready to kick-off local eating season! Join a CSA, shop at your neighborhood farmer's market, buy a seafood and a meat share and support local restaurants that are procuring from family farms and fishermen.
The funds raised from Eat Local Month go directly toward our work in Sustainable Agriculture. LLF is proud to have put more than 70 apprentices through our Growing New Farmers Program in the last three years. We also launched our farm incubator and training center - DirtWorks - in 2012, which will provide an opportunity for farmers to share land, equipment, resources and expertise at minimal cost while building their market. The incubator farm is the first of it’s kind in the state.
