10th annual Buy Local Season

December 1st – December 31st

It’s almost that magical time of year! We invite the community to celebrate and engage in our 10th annual Buy Local Season.

You know that feeling you get when you go into a local shop or visit their website and find the perfect, unique gift for a loved one? You walk away feeling a little pep in your step. You have a glimmer in your eye. You know you’ve done something good – not just for your gift-recipient but for the neighbors you’ve supported by making that purchase. And you’ve kept THREE TIMES more of your dollars circulating in our local economy instead of leaving the community.

This year, we’re celebrating just how GOOD it feels to buy local. We’re creating a “buzz” around supporting local-independent businesses through a 5-part series of “Buy Local, Feel Good Fests” – hyper-local “cash mobs” driving 3-hour blitzes of consumer support to participating local businesses, ending with a happy hour celebration with raffle prizes and all the feel-good vibes that come from supporting local businesses. These will rotate around the community’s densest, walkable areas of local businesses on Saturdays from 1 – 4 p.m. throughout the campaign:

Nov 6 – King Street, Downtown Charleston
Nov 13 – South Windermere, West Ashley
Nov 20 – Park Circle, North Charleston
Nov 27 – Small Business Saturday, Everywhere
Dec 4 – Main Street, Summerville
Dec 11 – Coleman Blvd, Mount Pleasant

How can your business get involved?

– If you are a member business with Lowcountry Local First, we invite you to engage in the entire Buy Local Season campaign, running Nov 1 – Dec 31. You will receive a complimentary digital toolkit link near the start of the campaign with graphics, sample language and more to help make promoting the “Buy Local” message throughout the holiday shopping season easy and fun! Not yet a member? You can still participate — learn more here.

– Join in on your neighborhood’s “Buy Local. Feel Good Fest!”
We will be hosting 5 hyper-local shopping “fests” throughout the Lowcountry in dense and walkable local-business districts (see dates above). Local-indie retailers, F&B businesses and personal service providers are invited to participate by displaying the campaign poster, offering the postcard maps to customers, and benefit from a focused campaign to get shoppers into your businesses. Shoppers who participate and bring valid receipts with them to the ending “Feel Good Hour” happy hours each Saturday will be entered to win raffle prizes (1 raffle ticket per valid receipt).

– Donate a raffle prize item from your business and receive added visibility at the ending “Feel Good Hour” after your neighborhood’s fest.

LLF Members: Commit to being a part of the “Buy Local, Feel Good Fest” in your neighborhood by Oct 15th, 2021 in order to be included on the postcard maps and in order to receive the event poster and postcards — at no cost to you.
