South State Bank Loves Local
Dec 8, 2014
2014 Buy Local Month presenting sponsor South State Bank loves the local businesses that make the Lowcountry the place we love. We recently sat down with Bill Medich, Executive Vice President and Charleston Regional President to find out WHY South State Bank Loves Local.
LLF: Can you tell us about South State Bank?
Bill: South State Bank is a full-service commercial bank with 25 branch offices in the Charleston, SC area.
LLF: As a regional bank, what sets South State apart from national banks?
Bill: Local decision making, which allows South State to be responsive to the needs of individual communities served by the bank.
LLF: South State values community and relationship-banking. What does that mean to you?
Bill: Personal commitment to community service. I serve as Chairman of the Board at the Coastal Community Foundation and President of the Board at Spoleto Festival USA. South State can only be successful if the communities we serve are healthy.
LLF: What are the top reasons to bank with a community bank?
Bill: 1) The ability for a customer to interact with a decision maker. 2) Fair pricing and low fees. 3) You can develop a long-term relationship with a banker. 4) You are contributing to the growth of the local economy. 5) Access to financial services delivered in a high-touch style.
LLF: Why is supporting Lowcountry Local First’s mission important to South State?
Bill: Lowcountry Local First’s mission is to create an environment for success for local businesses and grow the local economy, which is consistent with South State objectives.
We are grateful to Bill, South State Bank and all our local supporters. Our signature initiatives and important awareness campaigns like Buy Local Month would not be possible without their generous support.
